All Windows Server builds since Windows NT have been using NT Loader (NTLDR) and Boot.ini to contorl the boot procress as well as manager mulit-boot environments. With Windows Server 2008 (and also Vista), the entire boot procress hs been re-engineered, resuting in the creation of the Boot Configuration Data (BCD).
NTLDR is completey replaces in its Functionatily, rather than store the boot cnfiguration file in a text file such as boot.ini. and everything is store in Binary format, and this can be manipulated using BCDEdit.exe or Cording using WMI (Windows Management Interface). BCD is stored in \Boot\BCD for BIOS based Operating System on Active Partitaion. and other Location Path - Extensiable FirmWare Interface (EFI).
